Britt
Lundquist
ICEBOX GALLERY presents:
Britt Lundquists pop photography intertwines character-driven
and visually explosive elements with themes evoking everything from
classic mythology to modern absurdity. Void of digital manipulation,
the work combines both surreal and real world elements to create entertaining
fantasies defined by vibrant color and visible flaws, depicting the
real world and the true photograph. Here is
a sample of her work.

"Between Heaven and Hell"
is the first one person show for Britt Lundquist. The exhibit will fill
the subterranean Icebox Gallery with colorful images.
Britt Lunquists work is pop photography that is loaded with repetition
for the eyes and mind. Often working with celebrity personalities, she
captures themes with an innovative and entertaining style of photography.
In Britts work, women are generally portrayed in dominating roles
of power, beauty and wit. Men are often in roles of humorous satire,
entertainment and comedy. No digital work is ever used in the original
photographs. "A photograph can speak a thousand words, even if
it is the same word repeated a thousand times." -Britt Lundquist
Britt began her photographic career in print journalism where she developed
a strong belief in the "truth" of an image. Photojournalism
also taught her a great deal about the power of the moment. Building
on her skills, she moved into photographing the Arabian horse industry.
Working with horses challenged her to capture the moment, as well as
be creative. Next she moved into fashion, learning more about style
and beauty. Britt began developing her skills of building a photograph
from the bottom up. Britt concludes, "Finally my work evolved into
what it is today: the photograph as a frozen moment in a creative story
revealing a truth. I want the photograph to carry a meaning or message.
Simple or complex, each photo has a story."
OPENING RECEPTION:
