Felt tip pen and pencil
This was one of the images that I did in order to complete my studio arts
class in high school. I turned in more than 50 drawings on this type of
paper. I remember how great it was to have access to as much paper as
I wanted.
This image of "man" was drawn when I was barely 18. I began
to have repeated symbols and designs show up in my drawings. One element
that showed up for years was the tiny circle with lines raying out. Another
pattern was the grouping of circles repeated and shrinking away. Instead
of shading the darker side of things I gave them ornate details and patterns.
Musical notes, eyes, stars, moons and money showed up in many more drawings.
