Pencil, color pencil and ink
As I look at this piece now I can hear a strange creepy music in my mind.
I was trying to make my drawings into three-dimensional renderings of
my imagination. I would attempt to draw the complex hallucinations that
I would experience when tripping on LSD. I seldom drew when I was on a
trip because I would not be interested in drawing. But when I returned
to my normal reality I would try my best to render places that my mind
had been. As I drew complex images like this I would see the levels separate
as if I was working on a hologram.
Making a solid black background proved to be difficult and I did not attempt
it often. Most of my images floated in a white field although the feeling
of outer space was often eluded too.
Note: The devil, the magician, the angel and the fetal baby caressing
the earth. The baby resembles the baby in the Stanley Kubrick film 2001
A Space Odyssey. (my all time favorite film)
