I tend to work intuitively, capturing what I find in the moment. The more I try to preconceive & control a situation, the less happy I am with the results. I also tend not to analyze my own work. It is what it is --- no more, no less. I am trying to evoke a response from the viewer, but what that response might be lies within them and may differ substantially from my own. This image was taken at a house outside San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Irma, the model, is a jewelry maker and circus performer. She is quite lithe and feline --- graceful and serene, yet with tremendous strength & energy. She was lying on the tiled patio while I shot her body from various angles. Then I noticed her feet. I was struck by their rough texture, the tar, and the curl of her toes. |
