One of my favorite things about Asian art films
is the shots of people in their underwear. That, and all of the pretty
colors and romantic melancholy. I watched Happy Together and The Hole
shortly before ending up in this hotel room and was feeling especially
inspired.
But hotel rooms always work their magic on me. There is inevitably a sense
of stepping into a movie or a photograph. I like to sit on the bed and
take in all the details of the room. The carpeting, the curtains, the
t.v. set, the mirror. My friends told me to check in this room for video
cameras peering through holes in the walls.. Unfortunately, I couldn’t
find any.
