Khadija and Meerwais are the owners of the Crescent Moon Bakery across the street from Icebox in northeast Minneapolis. Khadya was born in Minnesota, and Meerwais immigrated from Afghanistan in 1988. They opened their business in 2001 and have established a reputation for quality breads, desserts and other Afghan foods.
