"The Slayer"
Date: October 15, 2003.
Place: My studio

Idea for the work: My abstract photographs/grams are compositions of arranged geometric shapes and found objects. I am working on a series of images that conjecture a fictional society. In this "unseen world" micro beings exist on a subliminal level in a "matrix." I create scenarios. Part of my fascination with making these abstractions is the symbolic shapes that naturally evolve in the process allowing for individual interpretation.

For instance, the shape on the left-hand side, "The Slayer" looks like a profile of a face. The higher position, the "open mouth" expression and bold black vertical lines give it a feeling of dominance in the design. The single transverse line that connects and runs through a "hand" shape in the lower right of the picture could suggest an "attack" or "slaying" by the more dominant figure. Hence, the title, "The Slayer."
