The piece "Stem Cell Factory" evolved out of the need to communicate in a visual form the commodification of the body. Stem cells are harvested from fetuses to provide cutting-edge treatments for a host of ailments that have hereditary risk -factors. This image explores the thorny, yet enticing promise of biotechnology, and its effect on the value and perception of the body. |
