| This box is one of the first pieces I made that led me in my present direction. In this work I designed and made the box before having any idea what I would put inside it. My art materials became rocks, a stick and sand that I collected from the north shore of Lake Superior. My idea was to enclose a small part of nature and preserve a sublime moment of creativity. As if I enclosed some playful design made on the beach. The title refers to the weight of the rocks, the suspended balance of the stick, and the sand glued to the back. |
