I’m a Minneapolis based photographer with backgrounds in both theater and drawing. I also have a lifelong fascination for dream interpretation. My recent experimental work explores these interests, combining moody (stage-lit) portraits with sketches and text.
I combine photographic and drawn elements to make images that become like living pages of a personal journal. These pages, both reality and dream inspired, are always dark. They are nighttime visions that illuminate themselves. It is light from within darkness, and not the other way around, as that’s where my sense of beauty has always originated. The range of emotion that my subjects allow me to present would not be possible without their friendship. People that I care for are always the inspiration for my favorite work. We journey together in an attempt to catch a sliver of the dreamworld, something that feels honest to both of us even if we’re not sure what it means.
