This is part of a 50-image series combining the
human form with the landscape. All of the imagery in this series are darkroom-constructed
composite prints made from multiple negatives. No computers were used
in the creation of this imagery. Since the handmade, darkroom composite
has no single source negative it cannot be easily reproduced. Only 25
original prints exist of each image and I am not going back into the darkroom
to produce more.
The nude and the landscape are time-tested subjects
which have been explored individually since the invention of photography.
What I have done is physically combine these subjects photographically
to explore their common relationships. By continuing the creative process
after the click of the shutter the darkroom itself became a sort of laboratory
that allowed me to disregard physical-photographical limitations and explore
the relationship of human form and environmental objects. It is my hope
that these images exceed the sum of their parts.
