This little painting is from a series of dolls
and doll-like objects. The armless doll was something my Gramma picked
up long ago at a yard sale. Gramma was an avid yard sale shopper. Once
upon a time the doll's arms were attached. I think she looks more interesting
this way, as a sort of a childlike Venus de Milo figure. I like the smooth
shape of her bisque body and the fluffiness of her hair. Her nakedness
& armlessness is also rather disturbing, which is what prompted me
to paint her in the first place.
